A long career spent mediating conflict in a diverse variety of situations and advocating for the educational needs of under-privileged children led me to my current work as a family law attorney.
In prior positions, I taught Spanish to middle school children in inner-city Baltimore, and facilitated leadership workshops for high school students across the country. While working for D.C. Public Schools, I taught anger management, classroom management, and mediation to students, teachers, and administrators. In addition, I mediated student-student conflicts, student-teacher conflicts, and gang-related conflicts. For many years I worked for a national literacy organization, advocating for government and community agencies to provide books for under-privileged children.
My prior experiences provide the foundation I rely on when working with my family law clients. I believe that every family law case should settle and I work to help my clients achieve the best possible outcome through negotiation and mediation. My goal is to achieve the perfect balance between continually advocating for my client’s best interests and helping clients navigate the personal challenges and conflicts involved with divorce and custody matters. When litigation is necessary, I fight for my clients while always remaining realistic and honest with them about their potential outcomes. I always treat my clients the way I would want to be treated.
My extensive work with youth has helped me to develop a strong sense of empathy for the children involved in family conflicts. A number of my clients have been children. I have been appointed by the Circuit Court for Montgomery County to represent children’s interests in family conflicts as a Best Interest Attorney, a Child Advocate Attorney, and a Child Privilege Attorney.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Florida. I have a Master of Arts in International Communication with a concentration in Conflict Resolution from The American University. I received my Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law. I am trained in mediation and the practice of collaborative law.
I am licensed to practice law in the Maryland, and I am a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association.
