What To Expect

If you have any questions about Avery & Upton or would like to meet with one of our attorneys to discuss your case, please contact us at 866-919-9723 to schedule an initial consultation. Our initial consultations cost $250.00 and typically last for approximately one hour. At this initial consultation the attorney will meet with you to discuss your situation and your goals and discuss different avenues for you to achieve your goals. This is a good chance to learn what options are out there and to find out if Avery & Upton is a good fit for your case. Prior to scheduling an appointment we will run a conflicts check to make sure there are no conflicts preventing us from meeting with you, such as a prior meeting with the opposing parties.

To make your appointment as productive as possible, it is very important that you bring certain useful documents. The following documents would be as helpful to bring to an initial consultation:

  • Any papers you may have been served with
  • Any written agreements between yourself and the other party
  • Any current Court Orders
  • A few pay stubs or last year's income tax returns
  • A brief list of any assets and liabilities

When you arrive for your initial consultation, you will be given an Intake Form which often takes 5-10 minutes to complete. The form requests general background information to assist us in keeping track of your case. When you meet with the attorney, they will review the form and surely have many more questions to give you the best possible advice. All information you share either on the form or with the attorney is kept completely confidential.

After hearing your story and asking for relevant details, the attorney will discuss with you possible options for proceedings, review likely outcomes, and answer any questions you may have.

After meeting with the attorney, it is important for you to decide if Avery & Upton is a good fit for your needs. If you decide to retain our firm, we will discuss a fee agreement with you and send you a retainer agreement which includes the agreed upon fee agreement. Please note that we will not enter our appearance or begin working on your case until you have returned the retainer agreement and provided the initial retainer.
